1st Pricing to Offer LEED Building Component
Calculations in their 5D BIM Search Engine
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
January 5, 2010: Signal Hill,
Calif. – 1st Pricing, a Southern California-based eCommerce
and Technology Company, will soon be offering LEED calculations
for specific building components as part of their revolutionary
1st Pricing BIM search technology. LEED is a Green Building
Certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC). The LEED Certification Systems helps to
quantify sustainability and building efficiencies.
“In order to mainstream Green or
Sustainable building practices, you need to make the information
more easily available and useable.” said Douglas Lopez, founder
of 1st Pricing. “We have been providing “live” pricing for
real-world products since 2003 so calculating LEED credits on
those products will be a simple but value-added proposition.”
Lopez continues “One section of the LEED calculation
specifically deals with Materials and Resources – we will be
able to automatically calculate LEED credits for materials used
in the design model with manufacturer specific data. Then we can
populate the regulatory form and provide precision pricing all
within the click of a mouse. Since 1st Pricing is a leader in 5D
technology – including their “5e” eCommerce technology – we are
defining best practices for “greening” the process of building
by making all relevant building component data available online
for review, edit and purchase. Decision makers will be presented
with multiple brands, total price, LEED ratings and the ability
to buy the right product online. The key part to making BIM more
effective is to make it “native” to the design process – no
import or export – no upload or download. We do that now and the
new LEED process will be part of that seamless approach.”
1ST Pricing is dedicated to
providing authoritative information and making it readily
available both within CAD and outside of CAD for the Architect,
Contractor, and Owner. While completing this enhancement we will
focus on creating strategic partnerships with technology firms
and manufacturers of building materials to return all the
commercially available products in the construction industry
with the click of a mouse.
The 1st Pricing technology
accesses multiple databases through an internet portal and can
pull all brands that are available in the region plus, Green
information, Energy ratings, RFID or any other relevant
manufacturer specific data. It can provide either availability
options or comparison pricing of multiple brands to fill out a
detailed bill of materials with all related content on demand.
At the same time, an online shopping cart is created for easy
fulfillment from a local material distributor based on the
project zip code. Changes and updates are made within seconds so
that everyone is on the same page. Today, the Company is focused
on building materials for residential construction but plans to
add commercial building products in the future. In the CAD
industry, the supply chain component is often referred to as the
“fifth dimension of CAD” or 5D.
“Our simple to use technology identifies available products by
zip code providing viable options to everyone involved in the
building process.” adds Lopez. “By identifying multiple brand
solutions from local suppliers to precise architectural
specifications, we are empowering the homeowner and their
contractor with a number of fulfillment choices ranging from
what is available to delivered-to-the-jobsite pricing.”
About LEED
LEED is an internationally
recognized green building certification system, providing
third-party verification that a building or community was
designed and built using strategies aimed at improving
performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy
savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved
indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources.
Developed by the U.S. Green
Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and
operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing
practical and measurable green building design, construction,
operations and maintenance solutions.
LEED is flexible enough to apply to all building types –
commercial as well as residential. It works throughout the
building lifecycle – design and construction, operations and
maintenance, tenant fitout, and significant retrofit. And LEED
for Neighborhood Development extends the benefits of LEED beyond
the building footprint into the neighborhood it serves.

platforms are in development. The 1st Pricing technology was
initially released in TurboCAD in 2003.
1st Pricing is part of California
Distribution Center (CDC), a building material distribution
company focusing on fenestration products. CDC Also operates 1st
Windows.com - the only site on the Internet that offers instant,
real-time, dynamic pricing and purchase of both replacement and
new construction windows. The website, which also offers doors,
skylights and acrylic glass block windows, has been online since
April of 2000.
The site allows anyone, homeowner,
do-it-yourselfer, architect or contractor, to get buy-it-now
pricing for made-to-order windows. Not only does the site offer
pricing for a specific brand, it can offer on-demand pricing for
up to six brands, simultaneously, with the click of a mouse.
When the order is fulfilled, the manufacturer delivers the
product directly to the jobsite.
